Bacs: fast, easy, safe

bacs software has been around for years now, but it still has not been universally adopted by businesses. This is strange when you consider the many advantages of making bacs payments, rather than older and less reliable or secure methods. There is still some suspicion about trusting computers to do your work for you, and people tend to be warier than ever where their money is concerned. The maxim holds that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, but that weak link is usually down to human error. In practice, bacs is a fast and reliable way of making payments to suppliers and receiving them from customers. It can save you time and money, and reduce the errors and risk associated with handling cash and paying third parties by other means.

Bacs stands for bankers automated clearing software. Essentially it is an electronic transfer of funds from your account to another party’s account. This can take up to three days, but can equally be almost instant. (There is another option, SWIFT, which is guaranteed same-day.) Even in the worst case scenario, then, bacs is as fast as paying in a cheque or cash. It has several advantages over and above that.

One of these is security. Making online payments means you do not have to keep cash on the premises. It also reduces the scope for fraud, since you will no longer be making out cheques. Reliability is another. The money leaves your account immediately, so you know how much is left, and you are not likely to be caused cash-flow problems by people delaying paying in cheques and then the money leaving your account unexpectedly. Additionally, once you have correctly entered a payee’s details once, they can be reused after that. Paying the wrong person and having to recover the money shouldn’t be an issue.

Bacs software can be used to time payments, and in conjunction with accounting software can be used to take care of payroll payments – automating pay day and saving a huge amount of time and effort, as well as reducing the error inevitable in doing the job manually. Bacs payments and receipts can also be combined with auditing software to further reduce error and duplicate payments, resulting in surprising savings for most businesses. In conclusion, there are many reasons to use bacs and few to ignore it.

School Uniforms – cheaply and easily

School uniforms can be costly and, due to your children’s tendency to grow at inopportune moments, short-lived. There is a certain level of economy that can be made by passing school clothes along from one child to another, and even around groups of friends. But eventually you’re going to have to bite the bullet at some point and find some new ones. Sometimes you won’t get much notice. For instance, if the weather turns cold sooner than you expected, you might find that you need to buy coats and hats before you expect it. Or perhaps a much-needed piece of clothing gets lost or irretrievably ripped. In these instances a good online London schoolwear supplier can be worth its weight in gold.

Shopping online for what you need can be a very welcome change from trudging around the shops with an unwilling child. Of course there are some caveats. You need to be sure that what you are buying will fit. The best way to do this is to find a similar item of clothing that your child already wears and that does fit, and make a note of the size. If it comes from the same outlet, so much the better. Otherwise you can find out with a tape measure – not something children often enjoy, but given the alternative of forcing them around the high street for a day, they should see the attractive side of it. The other thing to do is confirm that the store has a good returns policy, just in case you do make a mistake. Quick delivery is another box to tick – there’s no point if the store has the items you want but they won’t turn up for 2 or 3 weeks when you need them in 2 or 3 days. That’s one reason why local UK companies have an edge.

The other thing to remember about an online London schoolwear supplier is the price benefit. Shopping online tends to be cheaper, because overheads are better. There is no need for a big and expensive shopfront to tempt new customers – just a warehouse and a few staff somewhere convenient. That’s why this can be an economic way to purchase school clothes. That’s something that has appeal for everyone in a time of squeezed incomes. school uniforms never seem cheap, so anywhere you can save a few pounds is welcome.

Brise soleil to keep buildings at the right temperature

Buildings that are excessively hot or cold are not only uncomfortable, they can also be a danger to the environment and expensive to run. It is therefore important to consider how issues of overheating, or a lack of insulation might be addressed. The fitting of sunscreening devices is one of several remedial options. brise soleil, for instance, stop direct sun from entering buildings. An excellent alternative to air conditioning, which can leave us dried out and thirsty, brise soleil can be cut using reflective glass that at once diminishes glare and increases privacy. Glass louvres offer another solution that meets the demands of green policies with style; usually erected as additions to existing buildings, they can be made using tailor-made coloured glass and can even be run solely on solar power. External louvres are then a third way of making buildings more energy efficient and keeping customers and employees happy on your premises.

So, if a workplace is airless and inhospitable, any one, or a mixture of the above solutions might quite quickly rebalance the temperature and air quality while also saving money and supporting eco-friendly ideas. Company directors, or leaders with a deciding role in the well-being of employees have a responsibility to make offices, meeting rooms and other areas both pleasant to inhabit and conducive to work. In brief, an uncomfortable professional whose mind is caught up on keeping warm or staying cool is not going to be a happy one, nor, in all probability, will his or her work be up to scratch.

Indeed, the atmosphere of a workplace should be prized in much the same way by a respectable company as any more conventional asset would be. Therefore, if your building needs to be cooler, consider getting a brise soleil. If you need more room but want to use space efficiently and heat economically, why not invest in a glass louvre? And if you require some extra shading from the outside, external louvres can help. Quite simply, the reputation and the prestige of your brand is at stake every time visitors enter your building: first impressions of the business will be based not just on documentation but on the happiness of the people met and the surroundings that contribute to their outlook.

Phono preamp for maximum amplification before the speaker stage

Any serious music fan knows that there is much more to experiencing super sound than simply choosing a list of quality tracks from top artists and then pushing play. Indeed, audiophiles have more technical factors to consider before they can indulge in a music-listening or deejaying session. If we think, for example, about how a great deal of music fans have a bit of a soft spot for vinyl, it is soon realised that these listeners or DJs will demand specialist sound equipment. A phono stage, also known as a phono preamp or phono amp, is one such specialist product that amplifies the audio signal received by any vinyl based music system before the sound reaches the speakers.

However, not all phono stages are equal; while any phono amp is capable of amplifying sound, the performance of this fundamental task can vary from perfect to awful. This is because only the best phono stages achieve high levels of precision when they amplify.

When selecting a phono stage, it is therefore best to make precision a main preoccupation. Cutting background noise to a minimum should be a matter of particular importance to those looking to transfer their vinyl collection to a digital format. In brief, it should be remembered that the quality of the music input as played on vinyl will be reflected in the eventual digital output. The analogue to digital transfer thus needs to be effected with utmost care and with investment in top quality products: a better turntable and phono stage setup will ensure that the time spent on digitizing a music collection is not time wasted.

If the word investment inspires dread, you may be worrying in vain, because even some of the audio manufacturing companies that have achieved worldwide acclaim and offer bespoke services charge only a little more than a basic phono stage or phono amp supplier. All in all, if you care for your ears, and respect your favourite artists and your audience, just remember there may be more to be gained from your music with a reasonable phono preamp than what can be provided by a cheaper turntable.

Document processing from a reputable technology provider

With so much being free in today’s online community, many web users forget to appreciate trustworthy payment systems when they do end up investing in goods or services using their computers. These customers will quite rightly be very upset as soon as they experience headaches where transactions made over the internet are concerned though, and this is why all enterprises operating online in a financially interested capacity will need to be particularly vigilant when thinking about the systems they are going to put in place to ease relations between themselves and their clients. Evidently, it is not only cash that will be changing hands in these kinds of relationships; a smooth exchange of content will be just as important to manage. This is why corporations, financial institutions and banks around the world look to specialist companies to help them meet their document management and document processing demands: ultimately, keeping up good practice in document use will be as crucial to the success of a company as efficient invoice processing.

Those in a position to decide on the way in which their company will deal with their data and payment obligations will be faced with several alternatives where technology providers are concerned. The decision of which provider to use will carry with it a notable weight of responsibility, and should not therefore be taken too quickly. The kinds of things these decision-makers should think about will consist of gauging the cost, reputation, and ethics of the company whose services such as document management will to an extent determine their own institution’s profile.

The decision-maker confronted should ask him or herself a range of questions then, such as: is the technology provider I’m researching used by other well-established and respected corporations? Does the technology provider assist my company in the calculation of its environmental savings? Am I able to read encouraging reviews of the technology provider I have in mind from reputable sources? If the answer is yes to these kinds of questions, the chances are that data and financial transactions will be safe in the hands of a given technology provider.

Follow in the footsteps of other UK businesses and multinationals such as TDG and Avnet then, by using document processing along with document management systems to seamlessly combine online and paper orders. Those in search of leading payments and invoice processing solutions will not regret choosing an award-winning payments technologies provider allowing them to keep their customers satisfied.

Jobs in occupational therapy may be the ideal career path for you

For anybody looking for a career that offers a real challenge as well as an excellent employment package and the rewards of doing a job that’s really worthwhile, the allied health professions offer a variety of opportunities.  These are clinical health professions that are distinct from medicine, dentistry and nursing, and many people do not know enough about them to consider them seriously when thinking about career choices. The jobs range from jobs in occupational therapy, to physiotherapy and jobs in radiography.  If you are interested in this field then they are surely worth looking into.

Allied health professionals are important members of today’s healthcare team, providing treatment that helps transform people’s lives.  Many people are attracted to allied health jobs because of the opportunity they offer to work one a one-to-one basis with patients on a daily basis, making a real and discernible positive difference to their lives.  You might find yourself treating a broken toe or trying to find out what’s going on in someone’s mind, and the options are so varied that there will be something in the allied health professions that appeals to you whether you are interested in science or the arts, the body or the mind.

Acquiring the knowledge and skills to become a radiographer or physiotherapist will involve training and study, either at degree or diploma level. There is also a range of vital support roles that do not require any particular academic qualifications.  Allied health professionals deal with their own case-loads and work as independent professionals.  For example, they might work directly with a patient to develop interactive therapies to help recovery.  Whilst this is a significant element of the job, health and social care today is about teamwork, so AHPs will be part of a team, and may lead one.  This might mean working alongside GPs, doctors, teachers or social workers.

Allied health jobs might send you to hospitals, clinics, housing services, people’s home, or schools and colleges for work.  The academic requirements and training demands of jobs in radiography or jobs in occupational therapy can be demanding, but the rewards are high too.  Job satisfaction and career prospects are particularly good in this line of work.  If you want to find a job that will stretch your mind while allowing you to make a positive difference to many people and constantly develop your skills, it is certainly worth giving careful consideration to this sector.

Social services jobs for a better quality of life

Social worker jobs can put professionals through higher than average stress and burnout.  As local authorities are forced to make cuts, increasingly large caseloads in a job with strong emotional demands are placing more pressure on our social workers than ever before.  Researchers in Calgary, Canada have attempted to find the key to happiness for those in social services jobs, hoping that policy makers will embrace their data to make social worker jobs more attractive.  The study, by John Graham, a professor of social work at the University of Calgary, focussed on what makes these professionals happy, rather than concentrating on the well documented causes of stress.  His work will be of interest to all employers who want to make sure they keep hold of their valued employees.

He was motivated by trying to keep people in social services jobs, after recent statistics showed that eight percent of teachers and 15 per cent of social workers leave their jobs every year.  Graham’s team sent a survey to 2,500 registered social workers in Alberta, and received 700 replies.  They took the 13 ‘happiest’ social workers of those who had replied and focussed their investigation on their lives, through job shadowing and in depth interviews.

They saw that the happiest social workers reported higher levels of fulfilment when they had flexible work schedules, work life balance and support in their jobs.  Graham commented that social workers, by their nature, are caring, sociable people.  When they suffer from high caseloads they need to be given support in order to do their jobs well.  One of the findings reported commonly by the happiest social workers was having a high degree of freedom as part of their jobs, particularly having enough flexibility to manage the demands of heir jobs with their personal lives.

From victims of abuse to neglected children, people in social work jobs find themselves in many kinds of challenging circumstances every day.  This makes social services jobs demanding, but also fulfilling, as long as social workers receive enough support.  These findings have interesting implications beyond the remit of social worker jobs, as other employers might be encouraged to look at what makes their employees happy rather than tackling what makes them stressed.  As the researchers point out, everyone is more effective in their role when they can find satisfaction and happiness in what they do.  The most effective way to help your employees achieve this is to develop organizational cultures that reinforce these principles.

Hotel jobs Dubai for globe trotters

If you are the sort of person who loves experiencing different cultures and sunnier climates, and have been working in hotels in the UK for some time, then it might be that hotel jobs dubai could be the perfect move for you.  Dubai is known to hold a particular charm, which is not necessarily for everyone, though if you are looking for work in a place with a similarly strong tourism sector and an attractive climate, you might also consider hospitality jobs Singapore or hotel jobs Gulf.

Despite the economic crisis that has affected Dubai in recent years, it remains a very popular destination for British expatriates seeking a well-paid lifestyle in the sun. Currently, an estimated 100,000 Britons are living in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.  If you are looking at hotel jobs Dubai though, you must also be aware of the culture and traditions of a country that is strongly rooted in Islamic history.  It will probably be the case that you will have to adapt your behaviour and expectations to adjust to a country which is very different to the UK. Although the expat lifestyle and once-booming economy left Dubai the reputation of something of a party place, most forms of party behaviour are highly unacceptable in the area.  There is a zero tolerance policy towards drugs, drinking and driving, and sexual relations outside of marriage, and breaking these laws may cost you your freedom.  Dancing in public is not permitted, and swearing and public nudity are illegal.

There is also a necessary word of caution in financial matters.  Defaulting on a payment is illegal in the UAE, and could result in you having your passport confiscated and facing a prison sentence.  It is therefore extremely important not to start enjoying the tax-free lifestyle too quickly, but instead to make sure you have a stable economic base and never to enter into financial agreements without careful consideration.

Hospitality jobs Singapore will provide similar perks to Dubai, but with slightly fewer restrictions. Singapore is host to a variety of religions, so if you are thinking of moving there you need not be so prepared for adapting to strict religious rules.  Whether you are interested in Singapore, hotel jobs dubai or hotel jobs Gulf, it is always worth ensuring that you conduct some research about what your potential host state expects from its expatriate residents.

Improve your sales presentations with Powerpoint design

I had been doing sales presentations for years when my boss took me to one side and started to question why my performance was not as strong as the rest of the team’s.  He asked me to give him one of my standard Powerpoint presentations, to give him a better sense of what I was doing in my meetings.  He wasn’t totally unimpressed by my efforts, but he thought that my use of Powerpoint design could do with being updated.  I hadn’t been on a course for a good few years and had been concentrating on the content of my presentations at the expense of the style, which is more important than I realised.

My boss sent me on a brief course which I found really useful.  It really made me aware of all the tools in the program that enable you to really make your presentation into a multimedia experience that is less at risk of boring the audience to tears.  I found it really useful thinking a bit more in depth about the visual element of my presentation.  I had always included pictures, but the course flagged up how carefully these need to be considered.  Rather than picking a vaguely suitable picture to go with a statistic, it is more effective to use a pie chart or bar graph that properly reinforces the statistic.

The course also emphasised that, while Powerpoint design does allow for very technical and detailed slides, simplicity remains very important.  As the audience only sees each slide for a number of seconds, a hectic page is unlikely to make an impression and convey all the information on it.  The old rule that audiences can take in three points at a time is worth remembering, and extra elements such as video content should be viewed in context of this.  I was glad that the team at the training course also worked with me on my existing presentations, looking at how I could improve the effectiveness of the message I wanted to convey.  General advice is always useful, but I really felt that I got value for money when I was able to see how much better my new presentation was than the one I would traditionally give.

When I got back to the office I was actually quite excited about showing my boss my new Powerpoint presentations!  He agreed with me that they did a much better job at getting my point across, and were more entertaining as well.  My next sales presentations went quite well, as I was much more confident about my new presentations, I think this improved my confidence and therefore my presentation style.  A bit of Powerpoint design training certainly went a long way.
